

A young woman abducted in Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru Local Government Area, has regained her freedom after spending about five months in captivity, with medical checks confirming she is pregnant.
The victim was reportedly among four persons kidnapped when armed men invaded a residence where she had been caring for her critically ill mother. The attackers whisked them away into the bush, where they were held for months under difficult conditions.
The development was disclosed by Reuben Buhari, a former media aide to late Kaduna State governor Patrick Yakowa, who shared details of the incident.
According to him, the victims were eventually released after a ransom was paid, bringing an end to their prolonged captivity.
He said the woman was taken to hospital immediately after regaining freedom due to her fragile condition. Medical personnel later confirmed that she was pregnant, a development believed to be connected to abuse suffered while in captivity.
Buhari noted that the victim arrived in a critical state and required urgent stabilisation, including a blood transfusion, before further treatment could be administered.
The incident highlights the persistent insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, where kidnapping and banditry continue to pose serious threats to residents, especially in rural communities.
