On Wednesday, 10th June 2026, the historic hall of Irepo Grammar School, Igboho, became the epicenter of nostalgic homecoming, strategic regional development, and unyielding alumni solidarity. Old students flying the banner of the Irepo Grammar School Igboho Old Students’ Association (IGSIOSA converged from all corners of the globe for their highly anticipated Annual General Meeting (AGM). The central message of the convention was clear: ‘the preservation of a glorious educational heritage through progressive, tech-driven intervention.’
The high-stakes assembly was ably presided over by the National President, Mr. Joseph Olufemi Adeyanju, FCA, whose visionary leadership kept the proceedings focused and progressive. Ensuring the entire event ran like a well-oiled machine, the Public Relations Officer of the association, Dr. Layi Oladipupo, anchored the entire programme of events with professional elegance and absolute precision.
The meeting formally opened with a profound, comprehensive report presented by the National Secretary of the association, Hon. Dr. Matthew Oyedokun. The report covered the expansive trajectory of the National Executive Committee from May 2025 to June 2026, charting an administrative year defined by swift digital evolution, institutional healing, and structural upgrades.
A Year of Transition and Structural Fortification
Following the monumental success of the school’s landmark 60th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary in May 2025, the fresh Executive Committee was democratically inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the prestigious institution’s alumni network. Recognizing the sheer scale of the task ahead, the administration immediately established eight high-caliber Standing Committees to democratize operations and ensure absolute transparency.
These specialized organs—spanning Fund Raising, Project Execution, Constitution Review, Welfare, and Media—have spent the past year operating under strict accountability frameworks. Facilitated by regular, borderless Zoom executive meetings, the leadership successfully kept governance fluid and active, bridging the geographical gap between home-based indigenes and members in the diaspora.
Flawless Fiscal Accountability
A major highlight of the AGM that drew immense praise from the distinguished elders and trustees was the presentation of the association’s accounts. Exhibiting elite financial discipline, the Financial Secretary, Pharm. Jibreel Olaniran, presented a thoroughly accurate, crystal-clear financial record of incoming resources and commitments.
This was seamlessly complemented by Chief Adelani Olowookere, the National Treasurer, who gave a meticulous and accurate accounting of the association’s deep financial reserves. Together, the duo proved that the association’s developmental capital is under the absolute custody of trusted professionals.
The Tech Revolution: Commissioning the CBT & ICT Center
The crown jewel of the year under review was the total infrastructural overhaul and transformation of the school’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Center. In a world rapidly driven by digital literacy, the association refused to let the current students of Irepo Grammar School lag behind.
Through a coordinated financial drive backed by generous donations from various year sets, friends of the association, and targeted networks of both the President and the Board of Trustees Chairman, a massive tech revolution was executed. The project logistics featured:
The procurement and donation of a premium, state-of-the-art laptop computer for advanced administrative running.
The procurement of 16 brand-new desktop computers and the comprehensive technical restoration of 21 existing units.
Full structural renovation of the center, including the installation of heavy-duty iron security doors and extensive burglary-proof protective arrays.
The provision of ergonomic learning facilities, including customized computer tables and chairs.
Sustainable Power & Borderless Connectivity: The installation of a high-capacity solar power grid to eliminate power outages, a standard CCTV surveillance camera array for maximum security, and an ultra-fast 5G MTN internet routing system to facilitate borderless digital research.
In a moment of profound historical significance, this digital sanctuary was formally commissioned by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, His Excellency, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State and a proud product of the 1971 set.
Flanked by an executive entourage and the indefatigable National President, Mr. Joseph Olufemi Adeyanju, FCA, the commissioning stood as a monument to what collective regional responsibility can achieve.
Balancing Grief, Brotherhood, and Celebration
The Secretary’s report also reflected the deep emotional landscape of the alumni family over the past twelve months. In a touching chronicle of brotherhood, the association actively engaged in the celebrations and bereavements of its members.
The association formally honored its history by gathering at Olivet Baptist Church, Oyo, on Sunday, 6th July 2025, for the One-Year Remembrance Service of its Pioneer President, the Late Chief Lukas Adekunle, praying for the continuous repose of his visionary soul. Similarly, the association traveled to Oru-Ijebu in Ogun State on Saturday, 16th August 2025, to stand in solidarity with the Deputy Governor and BoT Chairman during the 40th Day Fidau Prayer for his beloved mother-in-law, Late Mama Anifat Adetoun Ashimi.
While the community paused to mourn the painful loss of several titans—including Hon. Ojutola Amao, Prince Michael Siyanbola Ladigbolu (the legendary 1971 Labour Prefect), Mr. Phillip Olarenre Oladoyinbo (Jalingo), Engr. Emmanuel Akande Oladejo (Fantomas), Mr. Joel Ogundiya, Mr. Yinusa Okanlawon (GNTC), and Alhaji Asimi Ogunronbi—it also found profound moments to celebrate life.
A major highlight of the year was the joyful celebration of the 70th Birthday of the National President, Mr. Joseph Olufemi Adeyanju, FCA, on 20th February 2026, an event that united multiple generations of old students in pure gratitude.
Looking Ahead: The 2026 AGM Framework
As the report concluded, the National Secretary noted a massive surge in membership mobilization, better synergy with year-set coordinators, and a fortified database design. The 2026 AGM closed with a clear, aggressive agenda aimed at building an unassailable institutional archive and launching the next phase of structural developments for Irepo Grammar School.
With elite sons and daughters standing hand-in-hand, the old students of Irepo Grammar School, Igboho, have proven that they are not just alumni—they are active partners in educational governance, regional progress, and generational empowerment.
