The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Mrs Kudirat Abiodun Balogun (née Adegunwa) as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
She will run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, as the APC positions itself for the forthcoming contest in the state.
Governor Dapo Abiodun formally announced her nomination at the APC Stakeholders’ Strategic Meeting held in Abeokuta on Friday, where he disclosed that the deputy governorship slot had been zoned to Ogun East Senatorial District in line with the party’s internal arrangement.
According to the governor, Mrs Balogun emerged as the preferred choice of the governorship candidate after consultations with several aspirants from the zone.
Presenting her to party leaders for endorsement, Senator Adeola described her selection as strategic, saying she would strengthen the APC ticket and contribute meaningfully to the party’s development agenda for Ogun State.
The Ogun APC Chairman, Alhaji Yemi Sanusi, who formally confirmed the nomination, said the decision followed broad consultations and adherence to the party’s zoning principle.
He noted that Mrs Balogun’s professional record, corporate leadership experience and academic background made her a strong fit for the position.
Mrs Balogun is a corporate executive and finance expert with over 30 years of experience spanning manufacturing, enterprise governance, strategic finance, and business transformation.
She currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director for Finance and Information Technology at Rite Foods Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous FMCG companies.
Under her leadership, the company is said to have undergone significant expansion, strengthening its manufacturing capacity and achieving a valuation reportedly above ₦500 billion.
She holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos and an MBA in Finance from Bayes Business School, London.
She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and has attended executive programmes at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
Beyond her corporate profile, she is known for advocacy in women empowerment, youth development, and economic inclusion, with a focus on industrial growth and institutional development.
Party leaders said her leadership style reflects discipline, accountability, and results-oriented management, describing her as a candidate with both technical expertise and administrative depth.
Mrs Balogun, who is married with children, is widely regarded within party circles as a professional with a strong track record in corporate governance and private sector growth.
