The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed sympathy with its National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, following the death of his mother, Alhaja Sidikat Basiru, who passed away at the age of 92.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC described the late Alhaja Basiru as a devout Muslim, compassionate mother and respected family matriarch whose life was marked by faith, sacrifice and selfless service.
The ruling party said the deceased dedicated her life to raising her children on the principles of discipline, integrity and the fear of Allah, leaving behind a legacy that would continue to inspire her family and all who came in contact with her.
According to the statement, the virtues she embodied were evident in the lives and accomplishments of her children, particularly Senator Basiru, whose record in public service reflects the values instilled in him by his late mother.
“Alhaja Sidikat Basiru was a devout Muslim, a woman of virtue and compassion, a loving mother, and a revered matriarch of her family who lived a life of faith, sacrifice, and selfless service,” the statement read.
The party noted that her wisdom, moral uprightness and religious devotion earned her the admiration of many and would remain an enduring source of inspiration to future generations.
On behalf of the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Working Committee, party leaders, members and supporters, the APC conveyed its heartfelt condolences to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family over the loss.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family at this difficult time,” the party said.
The APC prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept her righteous deeds and grant her eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
