The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu over what it described as significant gains in the fight against terrorism, citing the elimination of more than 13,000 terrorists and violent criminals within the past year.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group said the development reflects the Federal Government’s determination to confront insecurity and restore peace across the country.

TMV noted that President Tinubu recently disclosed that sustained military operations had led to an 81 per cent reduction in terrorism-related deaths since 2023.

The group also pointed to the arrest of over 17,000 suspected terrorists during the period, describing the figures as evidence of improved operational capacity by the nation’s security forces.

According to the statement, the successes recorded by the military were made possible through improved funding, enhanced welfare for personnel and better equipment provided by the Tinubu administration.

It added that the Armed Forces had also strengthened international military cooperation by moving beyond joint training exercises with countries such as the United States, France and other European partners to coordinated operations against terrorist groups.

TMV further hailed the implementation of Operation Safe Corridor, through which more than 124,000 insurgents and their dependants have reportedly surrendered since 2023.

“We acknowledge that as part of efforts to curb the terrorism menace, the federal government has opened a window of surrender for the terrorists, and failure to utilise the opportunity will lead to the government descending on them with the heavy hammer of the law,” the group said.

The organisation also praised the Nigerian Army for recent operations in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states, where troops rescued 337 kidnapped victims and recovered 4,105 rustled cattle.

According to the group, the achievements were made possible through the strategic support provided to the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, which has continued to intensify security operations in the North-Central region.

TMV attributed the progress in the anti-terror campaign to the Federal Government’s proactive security strategy, including increased deployment of technology, intelligence gathering and coordinated military operations.

The group urged the administration to sustain the momentum in order to consolidate the gains already recorded in the fight against terrorism and other forms of violent crime.
