The victims were rescued alive during an operation carried out in the Makwa area of Niger State by the Iru Ekun Security Team in collaboration with other security stakeholders.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Office of Oloye Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) Media in collaboration with the Iru Ekun Security Team.
According to the statement, the successful operation brought relief to the victims’ family as well as residents of the Igboho and Igbope communities.
“The rescue operation was successfully carried out in the Makwa area of Niger State through the tireless efforts of the Iru Ekun Security Team, working in collaboration with relevant security stakeholders,” the statement said.
The office expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the victims, describing the development as a moment of thanksgiving for the affected family and the wider Oke-Ogun community.
The statement said Sunday Igboho remained committed to supporting efforts aimed at protecting lives and property across the region.
“Oloye Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) reaffirms his unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property. He assures the people of Oke-Ogun that every lawful effort will continue to be made in support of peace and security across the region,” it stated.
The office urged members of the public to remain calm and continue supporting lawful security initiatives, while cautioning against the spread of unverified information capable of causing panic.
It added that further details surrounding the rescue operation would be made public at the appropriate time.
The statement also prayed for lasting peace in Igboho, Igbope and other communities across the Oke-Ogun axis.
Meanwhile, a source in the community disclosed that contrary to the report that the victims were rescued by the security operatives, N30 million ransom was paid by the family for the release of two out of the three victims.
According to the source, a tractor operator kidnapped along side the woman and her son at the same scene is still in the captivity as the kidnappers are demanding for more ransom for his release.
