Military Reportedly Eliminates Notorious Bandit Commander Kachalla Hare in Zamfara

The Nigerian military has reportedly killed a notorious bandit commander, Kachalla Hare, during a security operation in Zamfara State.

Hare, who was said to have operated around Mada in Gusau Local Government Area and neighbouring Bungudu Local Government Area, reportedly died after sustaining serious injuries during an encounter with security forces.

The development was disclosed by Bakatsine, a journalist who covers conflicts in Nigeria’s North-West, in a post on X.

According to the report, Hare and members of his group engaged security operatives near Gusami village, a community situated between Bungudu and Gusau.

The encounter reportedly resulted in the deaths of several bandits, while Hare was said to have been captured after suffering critical injuries.

He was reportedly found with ammunition following the operation and later died from the injuries in the early hours of Wednesday.

There had been earlier reports suggesting that the bandit commander had been killed after one of his associates was eliminated days earlier. However, those reports could not be independently confirmed at the time.

Hare’s reported death comes amid intensified military operations against bandit groups and other criminal elements terrorising communities across Zamfara and other parts of the North-West.

Security forces have in recent months stepped up operations targeting bandit commanders and their networks in the region as part of efforts to disrupt their activities and restore security to affected communities.
