The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a temporary power interruption in parts of Abuja on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as it carries out urgent maintenance at its 330/132kV Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.

According to a notice signed by the management of TCN, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to take place between 10am and 1pm, during which the company’s maintenance crew will work on the 33kV 6MVA earthing reactor at the substation.

The three-hour exercise is expected to affect electricity supply to several areas served by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

TCN said AEDC would be unable to off-take electricity to customers in Aso Villa, Asokoro, African Medical Center, Kabusa, EFAB Estate, Apo Resettlement, Zone E Extension and Trademoore, as well as adjoining areas, for the duration of the maintenance.

The company explained that the intervention was necessary to enable its maintenance team to carry out the urgent work on the earthing reactor and ensure the continued reliability of the transmission infrastructure.

“TCN apologizes for any inconvenience this will cause electricity customers in the affected areas,” the statement said.

The company urged affected residents and businesses to make necessary arrangements for the temporary interruption, which is expected to last for about three hours.
