18-Year-Old Charged Over Alleged Plot to Kidnap Mbappé, 25 Others

An 18-year-old French national has been charged over an alleged series of kidnapping and home invasion plots, with Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé reportedly among 26 people identified as potential targets.

The suspect, identified as Clément L., and known by the alias “Lester Z”, was charged on August 21 in Nanterre with organised gang robbery and other offences, according to a report by *Le Parisien* on Wednesday.

Investigators reportedly discovered Mbappé’s name on a list recovered from mobile phones seized from the suspect. The list allegedly contained the names of wealthy businesspeople and personalities linked to the French rap industry.

Authorities believe as many as 26 people may have been considered for kidnapping.

Clément L. has also been linked by investigators to a number of home invasions and alleged kidnapping schemes carried out or planned between April 11 and August 19.

The reported incidents occurred in several locations, including Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt and Santenay.

Investigators are still trying to establish how advanced the alleged plots were and determine the precise roles played by the various suspects.

The teenager remains in pretrial detention and is being held in solitary confinement.

An alleged accomplice was released under judicial supervision but has challenged the decision before the Versailles investigating chamber.

The case is still under investigation, and the allegations against the suspects have not been established in court.

Mbappé, 27, moved to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024 and has since become one of the Spanish club’s leading attacking figures.
