The United States has delivered new military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force under a foreign military sales agreement aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to combat terrorism.
The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced the delivery in a post on X on Thursday, saying a US Air Force C-17 aircraft transported the equipment over the weekend.
AFRICOM said the delivery would further deepen security cooperation between both countries and support Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations across the region.
“Partnership in action: A US Air Force C-17 delivers equipment to the Nigerian Air Force this weekend,” the command stated.
It said the equipment formed part of an existing foreign military sales agreement between the two countries and would support Nigeria’s efforts to counter terrorism.
The latest delivery comes as Nigerian security forces intensify operations against terrorist groups and other threats across the country.
The United States has maintained military cooperation with Nigeria through training, operational support and the provision of defence equipment.
The latest assistance further highlights the security partnership between both countries as Nigeria continues efforts to strengthen its military capacity and tackle terrorism and other security challenges.
