The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Nigerians on the nation’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Abdullahi, in his Independence Day message, described the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey, celebrate the resilience of Nigerians and renew commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous and energy-secure nation.
He said the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda was recording gains in key sectors, particularly in efforts to strengthen energy security, expand access to clean and reliable energy, promote energy efficiency and support sustainable economic development.
According to him, the initiatives were critical to creating an enabling environment for businesses, communities and households to thrive.
The ECN boss urged Nigerians to remain united and constructive in supporting ongoing reforms, while calling on stakeholders to contribute their ideas, expertise and resources to national development.
He said ECN would continue to collaborate with relevant government institutions, development partners, the private sector and Nigerians to advance sustainable energy policies and programmes that would improve citizens’ quality of life.
Abdullahi also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to Nigeria’s energy transition, saying the country’s energy future remained a national imperative.
He specifically cited the Renewed Hope Solarisation Programme as one of the initiatives expanding access to clean energy, strengthening energy security and creating new opportunities for Nigerians.
“The Nigeria we desire is possible. Nations that are great today were once laying their foundations. We too can rise, compete and lead among the world’s greatest nations, and even surpass them,” he said.
The ECN DG called for greater patriotism, cooperation and collective commitment to national development, stressing that “the future belongs to a Nigeria that believes in herself and acts with purpose.”
He wished President Tinubu, the APC and all Nigerians a happy Independence Day, praying for the continued progress of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
