National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has welcomed the uploading of the party’s approved logo by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Dickson described the development as an important step towards resolving the dispute over the party’s symbol ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Bayelsa State governor said INEC’s action followed a High Court judgment and the approval of the logo under the NDC constitution.
He also noted that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had ratified the approved logo before the commission uploaded it.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Dickson commended the judiciary for its role in resolving the matter.
He also praised INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and other members of the commission for complying with the court judgment.
The NDC leader extended his appreciation to the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, and members of the NEC for their efforts during the dispute.
He equally acknowledged the patience of the party’s candidates and members, saying the resolution would give them greater certainty as they prepare for campaigns.
“Our approved logo has now been uploaded, and candidates can print campaign materials and continue their consultations and campaigns with certainty,” Dickson said.
With the logo now available on INEC’s platform, Dickson urged NDC candidates across the country to intensify their engagement with voters.
He also asked them to work closely with party structures when setting up their campaign teams, stressing that they were contesting under the NDC platform.
The former governor warned candidates against actions that could undermine the party’s interests or weaken its campaign efforts.
He called for greater coordination between candidates and party leaders, particularly as political activities gather momentum ahead of the elections.
Dickson also urged members to challenge what he described as propaganda and misinformation aimed at creating divisions within the party.
He maintained that the NDC remained committed to its founding principles and the promotion of a strong multi-party democracy.
According to him, attempts to use legal disputes to weaken the party had failed.
“We are fighters, and we will fight until the end. We have resisted those who sought to use the judiciary against the party, and they have failed,” he said.
Dickson said the party was founded on vision, selfless dedication and commitment to democratic ideals.
He therefore urged members to remain united and defend the party’s interests as it advances its political activities across the country.
“We must now join hands and ensure that all candidates campaign and take their message freely to every part of Nigeria without intimidation,” Dickson added.
The NDC leader also called on candidates and supporters to remain focused, saying unity would be critical to the party’s preparations for the forthcoming elections.
