The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has charged members of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps to embrace self-reliance and leadership as they complete their national service.

The NYSC Director-General gave the charge in a farewell message to the outgoing corps members, commending them for their patriotism, resilience and commitment throughout the service year.

The message, signed on Sunday by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, said the corps members had contributed meaningfully to their host communities through various projects and community development initiatives.

The Director-General said their service had demonstrated the importance of putting national interest above personal considerations.

He urged the outgoing corps members to build on the knowledge and skills acquired during their service, particularly through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

“As you transition into the next phase of your journey, I encourage you to boldly harness the knowledge and skills gained through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme,” he said.

The NYSC chief advised them to become creators of opportunities rather than wait for employment, urging them to explore new paths and contribute to the growth of others.

He also reminded the corps members to uphold the core values of the scheme as they begin their post-service careers.

These values, according to him, include patriotism, integrity, efficiency, commitment, teamwork and self-reliance.

The Director-General said the values should guide the corps members as they take on new responsibilities, overcome challenges and pursue their aspirations.

He further urged them to seek leadership wherever they found themselves and use their influence to promote unity, progress and national development.

The Director-General said the projects undertaken by the corps members and the lives they touched in their host communities would remain part of the legacy of their service year.

He encouraged them to carry the spirit of service into the next phase of their lives and remain committed to making positive contributions to society.

Wishing the corps members success in their future endeavours, he said, “Go forth and make your mark on the world.”

He concluded the message with the NYSC’s familiar service refrain, saying, “Nigeria is ours, Nigeria we serve.”
