The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has pledged to collaborate with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) to enhance transparency, accountability, and good governance in the country.
The Chairman of ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), gave this assurance while receiving a delegation from NSITF at the Commission’s Headquarters on Tuesday.
Dr. Aliyu, who highlighted both agencies’ crucial roles in ensuring ethical governance, emphasized the need for synergy to combat corruption effectively and stressed the importance of sensitizing and educating NSITF staff and the general public on corruption prevention.
He further noted that ICPC and NSITF are responsible for protecting whistleblowers and bolstering public confidence in the system, noting, “We need to strengthen the whistleblower mechanism in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and encourage the public to report issues confidentially”.
Dr. Aliyu also proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both organizations to formalize their partnership and outline collaborative efforts in the fight against corruption.
In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of NSITF, Mr. Faleye Oluwaseun, commended ICPC’s pivotal role in promoting anti-corruption initiatives.
Mr. Oluwaseun while commending the achievements recorded by the Commission in the fight against corruption, expressed NSITF’s appreciation for ICPC’s advocacy and enforcement mechanisms in tackling corruption.
The NSITF Boss emphasized the need for both agencies to strengthen their cooperation through training, capacity building, policy advisory support, and joint monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to achieve sustainable outcomes.
He assured the management of the Commission that NSITF was ready to sign the proposed MoU, underscoring the agency’s commitment to fostering accountability and good governance.
