INEC Debunks Rumoured Voter Registration Resumption Date
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted circulating rumours regarding the resumption date of voter registration in Nigeria, urging the public to ignore what it described as a “false narrative.”
The commission clarified that no official date has been set for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise or the replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), contrary to speculations suggesting a resumption on 27 May, 2025.
The clarification came via a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi.
Oyekanmi emphasized that the commission’s attention had been drawn to a misleading report making the rounds, which falsely claimed INEC had scheduled the voter registration process to recommence in late May.
“The report is untrue, the Commission has not announced any resumption date for the CVR. We appeal to the public to disregard the false narrative,” Oyekanmi stated.
