The Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD) has commended the appointment of one of his Grand Patrons, Honorable Justice Mainasara Umar Kogo as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), describing him as a man of integrity, resilience, and a true change agent.

Speaking during a recent courtesy visit to the CCT Chairman in Abuja, the President of GAIYD, Dr. Hillary Akpua, noted that the group, which focuses on male child formal and non-formal education, sees Mainasara as a strong inspiration.

“Today, we are privileged and happy to pay this courtesy visit to one of our Grand Patrons, Honorable Justice Mainasara Umar Kogo.

“He has been a very big inspiration to the organization and to the boys. With him, more voices will be heard about the boy child, and we are going to spread the importance of boy child inclusivity in non-formal education and community development,” Akpua stated.

A Grand Patron of the organization, Professor Okechukwu Ikechukwu, said GAIYD was elated by the government’s decision to entrust such a sensitive office to “a man of proven merit.”

“We came here to congratulate the Chairman of the Tribunal because it is our relief that the government has chosen the right person for this kind of job, diligent, core professional, well-exposed with an impeccable international reputation,” he said.

Ikechukwu stressed that Justice Mainasara’s appointment was based on merit, a decision he said should inspire confidence in the nation’s leadership recruitment process.

“For the government to appoint a man with this kind of integrity, it means there is still hope for the country. It also means he has a duty to remain steadfast, deliver on the Tribunal’s mandate, and help save it from the bad reputation it has had for some time now,” he added.

Also speaking, another Patron of the group, Dr. Patrick Adilo, praised Justice Mainasara for his fatherly support to GAIYD and assured him of constant prayers.

“We will always stand by you in prayers over this new assignment, because that is what you need the most,” Dr. Adilo said.

Also lending his voice, a member of GAIYD, Hon. Chambers Okorie, described the new Chairman as “a change agent,” urging him to remain unwavering in his commitment to integrity and justice.

“We want to encourage him to continue doing the good that God has crafted him for,” he said.

One of GAIYD’s Matrons, Amb. Lady Chambers Okorie, expressed confidence in Justice Mainasara’s capacity to reposition the CCT.

“We are honoured and happy about his appointment because we know what he’s going to do here. So we are here to congratulate him formally,” she said.

Responding, Justice Mainasara Umar Kogo thanked the delegation and pledged to uphold the trust reposed in him.

He recalled his long years of public service, where he consistently prioritized sacrifice and diligence over personal gain, and vowed to reposition the CCT as a model of fairness, speed, and integrity.

“In my 33 years of service, no paper ever slept on my desk overnight. I believe leadership is a trust, and the leader should be the first to sacrifice and the last to enjoy. Here at the Tribunal, my vision is to make this court a model of how justice should be delivered, cases will no longer drag endlessly,” he assured.

Justice Mainasara also revealed that under his leadership, reforms have been initiated to decentralize the Tribunal and ensure that no case lasts longer than six weeks before resolution.

“The Code of Conduct Tribunal is an institution where both the high and the low must answer to justice. My duty is to safeguard its independence and reposition it for credibility,” he said.

Appointed Chairman of the CCT on November 27, 2024, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Justice Mainasara has been described by GAIYD as a beacon of integrity and a role model to young Nigerians.
