Uboro-Omavi-Ohuepe Ward Appointees Rally for Voter Registration Drive in Okehi LGA

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) intensifies the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, political appointees from Uboro-Omavi-Ohuepe Ward in Okehi Local Government Area, in collaboration with sons and daughters of Epotoo and Eyire Kingdoms, have reaffirmed their commitment to Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’s directive to mobilize citizens across the state.

On Thursday, September 5, 2025, the ward leadership convened its monthly strategic meeting to sensitize residents on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The meeting brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Local Government and Ward Assistants, community leaders, and party executives.

In his opening remarks, the Ward Chairman welcomed participants and provided updates on mobilization efforts across the three constituent communities—Uboro, Omavi, and Ohuepe. He reaffirmed the ward’s dedication to deepening grassroots political participation and voter education.

Soeaking, Hon. Michael Onimisi Ajibade, Special Adviser on Climate Change, described the PVC as the people’s “right to power” and assured citizens of structured plans to help those who had registered online access physical INEC centers.

Hon. Yekini, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and Stakeholders’ Chairman of the ward, shared his personal efforts in leading groups of residents to INEC offices and urged others to replicate such commitment to boost turnout.

Also speaking, Hon. Joseph Best A. Omeiza, Senior Special Assistant on Commerce and State Chairman of the Forum of Senior Special Assistants (KSFSSA), stressed that voter registration is the bedrock of credible elections. He cautioned against performative activism and called on leaders to prioritize sincerity and genuine engagement over social media optics.

In a remark, Hon. Mrs. Janet Samuel, Senior Special Assistant on Electronic Media in the Office of the First Lady and the only female SSA from the ward, encouraged participants to recognize the power of their votes. She pledged the collective support of all ward appointees while assuring women of targeted mobilization strategies to meet their unique needs. She further urged notable sons and daughters of the ward to transfer their voter registrations to their communities in order to increase the ward’s voting strength, adding that welfare packages are being planned to support women across the three communities.

Stakeholders and community members contributed ideas to improve grassroots sensitization and ease access to registration centers. The meeting ended with a resolution to sustain voter mobilization and ensure that every eligible voter in the ward is registered and empowered.

In solidarity, cash gifts were shared to meet immediate needs, while appointees pledged to address challenges raised at the meeting and escalate broader concerns to party leadership at the state level.

The meeting closed with group photographs and renewed commitment to Governor Ododo’s vision of inclusive governance and electoral participation.
