Tinubu Nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, Redeploys Anite-Uzoka

President Bola Tinubu has nominated tax and fiscal policy expert, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Anite-Uzoka in a fresh cabinet adjustment.
The development was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Tinubu has also redeployed Anite-Uzoka to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking the third ministerial assignment she has held under the current administration.
In a formal communication to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President forwarded Oyedele’s name for confirmation by the Senate.
Until his nomination, Oyedele chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to restructure Nigeria’s tax system as part of broader economic reforms.
His committee has been central to proposals aimed at improving revenue generation, simplifying tax processes and strengthening fiscal governance.
Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State. He is an economist, accountant and public policy expert with more than two decades of professional experience spanning the private sector and academia.
He holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He has also undertaken executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Before his appointment, Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, where he rose from joining the firm in 2001 to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He currently serves as a professor at Babcock University and as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
If confirmed by the Senate, Oyedele will take up responsibilities as Minister of State for Finance, as the Tinubu administration continues its push to deepen fiscal reforms and strengthen economic management.
The cabinet reshuffle signals ongoing efforts by the President to reposition key economic ministries amid efforts to stabilise public finances and drive revenue reforms.
