US Offers $10m Reward for Information on Iran’s Supreme Leader, Others

The United States Department of State has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information on several Iranian officials, including the country’s newly installed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The offer was made through the State Department’s Rewards for Justice Program, which said it was seeking information about individuals it described as leaders involved in terrorist activities linked to Iran.

In a poster released on the social media platform X, the programme alleged that the individuals listed command and direct different elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which it accused of planning and carrying out terrorist operations globally.

Among those named are Esmail Khatib, Iran’s minister of intelligence; Ali Asghar Hejazi, deputy chief of staff to the supreme leader; and Yahya Rahim Safavi, a senior military adviser.

Also listed is Eskandar Momeni, Iran’s interior minister, as well as Ali Larijani, who currently serves as secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council.

The poster further referenced several senior positions within Iran’s security structure without identifying specific office holders. These include the secretary of the Supreme Defence Council, the head of the supreme leader’s military office, the commander-in-chief of the IRGC and an adviser to the supreme leader.

According to the US authorities, individuals who provide credible information that helps identify or locate the listed officials could receive a reward of up to $10 million, along with the possibility of relocation.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran following a recent leadership transition in Tehran.

Mojtaba Khamenei was named the country’s supreme leader on March 8 after the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed during the early phase of an ongoing conflict involving Iran and a coalition led by the United States and Israel.
