Kwankwasiyya Orders Members to Join ADC as Kwankwaso Finalises Defection Plan

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has directed its members nationwide to register with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following what it described as the finalisation of plans by its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to align with the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the movement’s spokesperson, Dr Habibu Sale Mohammed, the group said the decision forms part of a broader coalition effort aimed at unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the statement, Kwankwaso is expected to formally register with the African Democratic Congress on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence, Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located along Miller Road in Kano, by 12 noon.

“The Kwankwasiyya Movement wishes to formally inform all its members across Nigeria and the general public that our Supreme Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has concluded all necessary arrangements to join the African Democratic Congress,” the statement read.

It further directed members to immediately proceed with registration in the ADC across their respective wards, local government areas, and states, urging them to actively participate in party activities.

“Consequently, all members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement are hereby directed to proceed and register with the African Democratic Congress (ADC)… Members are also encouraged to fully engage in all party activities and contribute actively toward the growth, development, and success of the party at all levels,” the statement added.

The movement described the move as a strategic step taken in the interest of its members and the country, noting that it underscores a commitment to democratic ideals and inclusive governance.

“This strategic decision, as always, has been taken in the best interest of the movement, our state, and the nation at large. It reflects our unwavering commitment to the advancement of democratic values, good governance, and the collective aspirations of the people,” it said.

Reaffirming its stance, the group stressed the need to safeguard democracy and respect the will of the electorate, maintaining that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains united in its vision of a more inclusive Nigeria.
