APC Forum Endorses Tinubu, Fubara for Second Term

A political support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the APC Forum for Good Governance and Continuity, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for second terms in office ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group made its position known at a press conference in Abuja, where it said its endorsement was based on what it described as an “evidence-based assessment” of the two leaders’ performance.

National Coordinator of the forum, Chief Henry Awolabi, said President Tinubu’s economic reforms have begun to stabilise the country’s macroeconomic environment, citing key policies such as fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and tax reforms.

“When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office in 2023, Nigeria stood at the edge of a fiscal precipice. With clarity of purpose and uncommon political will, this administration embarked on what can only be described as a bold and historic reform agenda,” Awolabi said.

He noted that the removal of fuel subsidy marked “the beginning of a new era of fiscal responsibility,” adding that subsequent fiscal and monetary measures have helped restore investor confidence and reposition the country economically.

According to the group, Nigeria has recorded steady economic improvements, including GDP growth exceeding four percent by the end of 2025, improved exchange rate stability, declining inflation, and stronger foreign reserves. It also pointed to increased non-oil revenue and expanding trade surpluses as signs of progress.

Awolabi acknowledged that the reforms have not been without challenges but maintained that long-term gains outweigh the temporary difficulties.

“Nations are not transformed by comfort; they are transformed by courage,” he said.

On Rivers State, the forum commended Governor Fubara for what it described as steady leadership amid political tensions, noting his focus on infrastructure, healthcare, and agriculture.

“In Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has demonstrated leadership by navigating intense political turbulence and restoring stability while focusing on infrastructure expansion and economic diversification,” Awolabi stated.

The group said the governor has also revived abandoned projects, improved healthcare delivery, and promoted agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting food security and reducing reliance on oil revenue.

While cautioning against policy inconsistency, the forum said Nigeria is undergoing a critical structural transition that requires continuity in leadership.

“We unequivocally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office… We also unequivocally endorse Governor Siminalayi Fubara for a second term as Governor of Rivers State,” the group declared.

It added that both leaders have shown the “courage, discipline, and vision” required to sustain reforms and drive development.
