Security operatives at the Ilorin Custodial Centre in Kwara State have intercepted a visitor attempting to smuggle suspected hard drugs into the facility.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, was foiled by vigilant personnel who detected the attempt during routine checks at the facility’s entry point.

Preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly tried to circumvent standard search procedures with the aid of unauthorized facilitation involving some staff members.

The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, was immediately apprehended and later handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
