JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Results, Warns Against Score Manipulation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the first batch of results from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), covering over 600,000 candidates who sat for the test on its opening day.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, a total of 632,788 candidates who wrote the examination on Thursday can now check their scores.

Candidates were directed to access their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.

The Board clarified that, for now, candidates can only view their scores, noting that printing of official result slips has not yet been activated.

JAMB also explained that the UTME exercise is still underway nationwide, with more results expected to be released in phases as marking and processing continue.

While announcing the development, the Board raised concerns over attempts by some individuals to falsify or manipulate their results, warning that such actions would attract serious consequences.

It cautioned candidates against tampering with SMS notifications received from its official platforms in a bid to mislead parents, guardians, or the public about their performance.

Describing the act as criminal, the Board disclosed that enforcement actions have already commenced.

“Two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means,” the statement noted.

JAMB stressed that offenders would be prosecuted in accordance with the law, reiterating its commitment to maintaining integrity in the conduct of public examinations.

The Board urged candidates to rely only on official channels for information and to uphold honesty throughout the examination and admission process.

The UTME remains a key requirement for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria, with millions of candidates participating annually.
