Three Adamawa APC House of Representatives Aspirants displaying their nomination forms in Abuja on Wednesday

Three aspirants seeking seats in the House of Representatives in Adamawa State have formally declared their intentions under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), after obtaining their Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat.

The aspirants; Mas’ud Ibrahim Usman, Vrati Sahulama Nzonzo, and Haruna Daniel Tabwarakan are contesting for different federal constituencies across the state.

Usman is seeking to represent Ganye, Jada, Toungo and Mayo-Belwa Federal Constituency, while Nzonzo is vying for the Numan, Demsa and Lamurde seat. Tabwarakan is contesting for Guyuk/Shelleng Federal Constituency.

The trio is said to be aligned with the political camp of AbdulRahman Haske, a governorship aspirant in the state who recently picked his nomination forms.

Their entry into the race is seen as part of a broader mobilisation within the party ahead of its primary elections, with stakeholders projecting a more competitive outing in the state.

Speaking after obtaining the forms, the aspirants commended the APC leadership for what they described as practical steps towards encouraging youth participation in politics.

They pointed to the implementation of provisions of the Not Too Young To Run Act, particularly the reduction in nomination fees for younger aspirants, as a major boost to inclusiveness.

“We commend the party for making the process more accessible to young Nigerians. The reduction in fees is not just symbolic, it is a real intervention that lowers the barrier to entry,” one of the aspirants said.

They noted that one of them benefited from a significant discount on the cost of nomination and expression of interest forms, describing it as a clear signal of the party’s commitment to nurturing new political leaders.

According to them, high nomination fees have historically discouraged many young Nigerians from contesting elective offices, making recent reforms within the party a welcome development.

Political observers say the emergence of the aspirants reflects an attempt by the APC in Adamawa to balance experience with youthful energy, a strategy aimed at strengthening its internal structure ahead of the general elections.

The aspirants also acknowledged the role of advocates of youth political participation, noting that sustained efforts behind the “Not Too Young To Run” campaign have begun to yield tangible results.

They expressed confidence that increased youth involvement would deepen internal democracy within the party and improve its electoral prospects.
