The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, commending their resilience and contributions to national development amid prevailing economic challenges.
In a statement signed on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda praised workers across all sectors for their sacrifices and dedication, describing them as the backbone of Nigeria’s growth and stability.
He noted that despite current economic pressures, Nigerian workers have continued to demonstrate patience and patriotism, which he said reflects the enduring strength of the nation’s workforce.
The APC National Chairman assured that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to policies that enhance workers’ welfare and improve living standards across the country.
He described Tinubu as a “worker-friendly leader” who understands the central role of labour in national development, adding that ongoing reforms are aimed at building a stronger and more inclusive economy.
According to him, key policy measures such as the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange system, expanded infrastructure investment, and renewed focus on industrialisation are necessary steps to reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
“These reforms are designed to stimulate productivity, attract investments, and create more opportunities for employment and wealth creation,” he said, while acknowledging that the reforms may come with short-term difficulties.
Yilwatda, however, assured that the government is implementing targeted interventions to cushion the effects of the reforms and ensure that their benefits are widely shared.
He expressed confidence that the sacrifices being made by workers would yield long-term dividends, leading to a more stable and prosperous economy.
“The sacrifices of today are not in vain. They will ultimately lead to a more resilient and inclusive economy that benefits all Nigerians,” he stated.
The APC chairman urged workers to remain committed and supportive of national development efforts, stressing that collective effort remains essential to achieving the country’s aspirations.
He concluded by wishing Nigerian workers a peaceful and rewarding Workers’ Day celebration, praying for their continued progress and prosperity.
