Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has praised the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in the state, which saw President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secure a sweeping victory across all local government areas.

Governor Fubara spoke on Saturday shortly after acting as the State Collation Officer for the exercise, describing the process as orderly and well-coordinated by the party leadership in Rivers State.

He disclosed that Tinubu polled all 280,082 votes cast in the primary held across the 23 local government areas of the state, leaving his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, without a single vote.

According to the governor, the APC recorded 297,068 registered members in Rivers State, out of which 280,082 were accredited and participated in the exercise.

Fubara noted that the process was peaceful and seamless, adding that he was satisfied with the level of organisation displayed throughout the conduct of the primary.

“I am impressed with the orderly nature of the exercise and the collation process from all the local government areas,” he said.

He further explained that after reviewing the figures submitted from across the state, he certified the results as accurate and reflective of the votes cast.

While acknowledging Tinubu’s overwhelming victory in the exercise, the governor clarified that the final declaration of the primary outcome remains the responsibility of the APC national leadership in Abuja.

The Rivers APC primary comes amid ongoing political realignments within the party in the state, with stakeholders describing the exercise as a key test of internal cohesion ahead of future national contests.
