The National Democratic Coalition (NDC) has directed all affiliated groups and non-governmental organisations linked to the party to operate strictly within its established structure, warning against parallel or independent operations.

The directive was contained in the party’s second National Executive Committee (NEC) resolutions signed on Sunday by the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, as part of measures aimed at strengthening internal discipline and institutionalising the party.

According to the resolutions, the NDC is committed to building a strong and enduring political institution anchored on party supremacy, with all members expected to place the party’s collective interest above personal ambitions.

The NEC stressed that all affiliated groups and NGOs associated with the party must function under its supervision and control.

“All affiliated groups and NGOs shall operate under the guidance and control of the party and must not function in parallel with, or independently of, the party structure,” the resolution stated.

The party also resolved that governments elected on its platform must maintain close consultation with party organs in the formulation of programmes, policies and appointments, excluding personal staff appointments.

It reiterated that the party remains supreme and that elected officials and members must align their actions and decisions with its objectives and policies.

As part of efforts to deepen accountability and discipline, the NEC approved the development of a comprehensive Code of Conduct for party officials and candidates.

To drive the process, a committee headed by the National Legal Adviser has been constituted to draft the framework and operational guidelines.

The party further announced the inauguration of a National Reconciliation Committee tasked with engaging aggrieved members and promoting unity within its ranks.

In the resolutions, the NDC emphasised that it was being built as a lasting institution rather than a vehicle centred on any individual, political movement or temporary interest.

“The NDC is being built as an institution, not a personality cult, political movement, or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be used and discarded,” the document stated.

Members were encouraged to remain loyal to the party and contribute to its long-term growth and sustainability, while aspirants and candidates were reminded that their primary allegiance must be to the party and the national interest.

The NEC also outlined stricter financial accountability measures for party officers and candidates, insisting that all party resources must be used solely for official activities.

Under the new guidelines, candidates seeking elective positions will be required to fully disclose funds raised for campaigns and contributions made to campaign accounts.

The party said such funds must be channelled through designated campaign accounts at the local government, state, zonal and national levels, including governorship and presidential campaign accounts where applicable.

The resolutions, according to the party leadership, form part of broader efforts to strengthen internal governance, promote transparency and lay a solid foundation for the NDC’s long-term institutional development.
