Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Prince Adewole Adebayo, has mourned the death of former Minister and elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, describing his passing as a major loss to Nigeria.

Adebayo said Tukur’s contributions to Nigeria and Africa spanned public administration, business, politics and national development, leaving a legacy that would endure beyond his lifetime.

In a condolence message, the SDP candidate described the late Tukur as a distinguished statesman, administrator, businessman and elder who devoted several years to the service of the country and the African continent.

He recalled his personal association with the former minister, particularly through Tukur’s investments in Adamawa State, efforts to promote indigenous shipping and his leadership in advancing the mandate of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD).

Adebayo said these engagements gave him the opportunity to witness Tukur’s commitment to economic development and public service.

“At this moment of grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the government and people of Adamawa State, his friends, associates, and all Nigerians who mourn this great loss,” he said.

The SDP presidential candidate noted that Tukur’s public life reflected a broad commitment to nation-building, with his influence extending from government and business to political leadership and continental development initiatives.

He described the deceased, who was also a former National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) as “an experienced leader and statesman of remarkable accomplishment,” adding that his contributions would remain an important part of Nigeria’s history.

Adebayo also expressed hope that Tukur’s record of service would inspire younger Nigerians and future leaders to dedicate themselves to humanity and national development.

He extended his condolences to Tukur’s family, associates and the people of Adamawa State, while praying for strength for those affected by his death.

He also prayed Almighty God to grant the late elder statesman eternal rest.
