NDC Unveils Campaign Council, Names Dickson, Obi, Kwankwaso

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted its National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, named chairman.

The party also named its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as co-chairman, while its vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will serve as co-vice chairman.

The council is expected to coordinate the party’s nationwide campaign and mobilisation efforts as the NDC prepares for the 2027 elections.

Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, the party’s national chairman, was named vice chairman, while its national secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary.

Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim was appointed Director-General of the Presidential Campaign.

The campaign structure also includes a 40-member National Campaign Advisory Council and 37 state campaign coordinators.

Other members of the campaign council include former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; Sidi Abdul; Babatunde Alli; Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; Senator Victor Umeh; Buba Galadima; Yakubu Ochefu; Mahmud Jahun; Moshood Salvador; Dudu Manuga; Victor Ogene and Muktar Usman.

The party also appointed its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, as Director of Communication and Media.

A former Defence spokesperson, Major General John Enenche (retd.), will oversee security and intelligence for the campaign.

In a statement issued on Sunday through its official X handle, the NDC said the council would provide strategic direction for its campaign across the country.

According to the party, the council will also coordinate its mobilisation drive and promote its proposed political agenda ahead of the elections.

It said the campaign would focus on building support around what it described as a people-centred and issue-based platform.

The party urged its members and supporters to remain united as it begins preparations for the 2027 contest.

“We call on all party members, supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to remain united and focused as we work together to rescue our country,” the statement said.

The NDC said the new campaign structure would work to mobilise Nigerians around its vision of a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria.”
