FG launches 2023/2024 robotics competition for students

The Federal Government has inaugurated the 2023/2024 robotics competition for students, aiming to foster excellence in science and enhance educational opportunities in Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

The First Lego League National Challenge in Robotics, Coding, and Artificial Intelligence was officially opened by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, in Abuja.

The workshop, themed “Masterpiece,” is designed to nurture the skills of young minds in robotics, coding, and AI. 

The Minister of Education commended mentors, teachers, and organizers for their dedication to cultivating the next generation of innovators and coders. 

He emphasized the importance of events like the First Lego League in promoting creativity, critical thinking, innovation, and digital literacy among youth.

The competition is expected to contribute to the technological advancement of society by integrating robotics education into the curriculum. 

The minister highlighted the significance of providing students with the skills required to thrive in an increasingly digital world. 

The event, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, witnessed students demonstrating their technical skills and creativity, working together to solve real-world problems. 

The winners will represent Nigeria in international championships in the United States, Australia, Norway, and Brazil.
