AFCON: Comedian AY blasts Tunde Ednut, other Nigerians for dragging Iwobi
Renowned Nigerian comedian, AY, recently took to social media to express his disapproval of the public mockery directed at Super Eagles player, Alex Iwobi, following the team’s loss in the AFCON final to Ivory Coast.
On February 11th, 2024, the Nigerian national team faced a disappointing defeat against Ivory Coast, with a final score of 2:1. This result sparked widespread discussions among football enthusiasts, and unfortunately for Iwobi, he became the target of harsh criticism for his performance during the crucial match.
Notably, celebrity blogger Tunde Ednut added fuel to the fire by sharing a photo of Alex Iwobi and soliciting opinions on his performance with the question, “What do you guys think about Iwobi?” AY, however, took a stand against this public shaming, emphasising the need for support and constructive criticism rather than outright mockery during challenging times for athletes.
The post generated over 31, 000 comments with many of them dragging Iwobi and 102k likes.
