FG hints on creating state police to curb insecurity

The Federal Government has hinted that it was considering adopting state police to curb the rising insecurity in the country.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Thursday after a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and State Governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to the Minister, the possibility of creating a state police structure will, however, be further discussed.

He further said that a lot of work needed to be done, and the President and State governors have agreed on working out the modalities on the idea.
