#TalknDo: Ojekhoa charges Nigerians on patriotism, positive orientation.
Joel Oladele, Abuja
Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Concepts and Actualization, Iretidola Ojekhoa, has charged Nigerians on the need to demonstrate genuine patriotism and positive orientation towards solving socio-economic challenges in the country.
She made the appeal on Sunday at the Day 12 of the ongoing Concepts and Actualization (Talk n Do) 40 Days Sit Out taking place in Lokoja.
The program which started on the 23rd of August was designed to analyse various challenges bedeviling the country and proffer possible solutions.
Speaking on the topic for the day, “Let’s go there (Let’s Actualize)” The Special Adviser said every citizen has a role to play in nation building and all hands must be on deck towards making Nigeria a better place.
“Apart from financial resources, there are other resources that are not monetary we can use to engage young Nigerians and retain their commitment for National Development.
“The comparative skills you have in games, sport, linguistics, crafts can be used to engage young Nigerians in communities and in addition use the opportunity to also change their orientation and mentality towards their contributions to National Development.
“Starting is important, not the number of people to start with, that is paramount. You’re enough, start from what you have within. Don’t doubt your ability to cause a change. Influence and inspire someone else directly or indirectly with your commitment to acts of patriotism.” Ojekhoa admonished.
She added that the geographic location is not what defines a country but the people and nothing changes until people change.
“Nigeria is plain, it’s the people that are in there that makes it beautiful or not, Nigeria is not a country just by the landmarks but the Nigerian people.
“People with like-minds for the role of Patriotism in National Development are in Nigeria, your vision for the country is not unique, others you don’t know may have better workable ideas. We must create an avenue where like-minded people can come together and put their resources together for better effectiveness and impact.
” If we evacuate all Nigerians and replace them with Chinese, in a period of 10 years, We may be surprised with the positive impact within that short period of time. It’s the people that matters, the people are the country. Everyone has a role to play.” She noted.
The 40 Days Sit Out is a Pre Independence event to be rounded up in grand style on the 1st of October to mark Nigeria Independence Day.
