FG Warns Nigerians Planning to Visit Uk Against Insecurity

The Federal Government has issued a warning to Nigerians planning to visit the United Kingdom (UK), against the backdrop of increased violence and disorder in the country.

According to a statement signed on Monday, by the Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eche Abu-Obe, the recent killing of three young girls at a concert in the UK has led to a surge in violent protests and attacks on law enforcement agents, with infrastructure also being damaged.

The statement urged citizens to be extra vigilant and take measures to ensure their safety. “Avoid political processions and protests, rallies or marches. Avoid crowded areas and large gatherings. Be vigilant and self-aware at all times,” it advised.

The government also encouraged citizens to contact the High Commission in the UK if they have any information that could be of interest. “Contact the High Commission with a view to passing information that could be of interest via e-mail and telephone [hc@nigeriahc.org.uk](mailto:hc@nigeriahc.org.uk), +442078391244,” the statement said.

The advisory comes amidst reports of large and unruly demonstrations by far-right and extra-parliamentary groups in parts of the UK, which have been exacerbated by the recent deaths of the three girls. The government is concerned about the anti-immigration narrative that has emerged, with particular emphasis on Muslim immigrants or persons of colour being targeted.

The advisory is subject to review, and citizens are advised to check for updates before traveling to the UK.
