Kogi First Lady urges women to seek opportunities for self improvement

JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

Wife of the Kogi state Governor Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo has enjoined women across the country to maximize every opportunity available to them to improve their lot.

Mrs Ododo made the call during the distribution of sewing and grinding machines through the Ododo Cares Empowerment Programme organized by the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to over 100 beneficiaries at the Government House in Lokoja.

The Kogi State First Lady said the gesture was aimed at boosting Small and medium scale businesses across the state, adding that the beneficiaries need to put the items to good use, support their families and warned them against sale of the items.

Hajia Sefinat reaffirmed Governor Usman Ododo’s commitment to fostering an environment that promotes wealth creation for all citizens, highlighting the state government’s concerted efforts to empower women and the broader population with a view to liberating them from the grip of poverty.

The First Lady therefore expressed appreciation to the Kogi state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Fatima Momoh for her initiatives and steadfastness in supporting women in the state through the ministry.
