The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his leadership and the significant strides made during the first half of his administration.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, at a press conference on the occasion of the mid-term anniversary of the President, the Spokesperson of the party, Felix Morka, emphasized that the President is steering Nigeria on a transformative path, despite the challenges faced along the way.

According to Morka, the administration is on a determined course, “a road filled with renewed hope of infinite possibilities,” leading to a future characterized by peace, safety, and enduring prosperity.

“At the APC, when we say that President Bola Tinubu is the President of Progress and has set Nigeria on a road less travelled, we do not mean that this journey, of inter-generational significance, is without delays or bumps along the way.

“It does not mean that our travel plan and road map is set on an immutable course. It does not even mean that the vehicle in which we are traveling is set on cruise control.

“It means that our vehicle is set on a certain and determined course of travel  – on a road that puts distance between where we are coming from and where we are going as a country, and as a people,” Morka said.

The party highlighted Tinubu’s break from the stagnating culture of presidential inertia, stating that crippling and vexing national challenges across all sectors of the nation have come under his laser focus, clear prescription and curative treatment.

APC further praised the President’s political will, noting that he has enacted policy reforms aimed at revitalizing the economy and addressing long-standing issues.

“Make no mistake, our great Party and Leader remain conscious of the inevitable and transient elevated difficulties that flagship policy reforms have imposed on our dear compatriots.

“In all, the best interest and wellbeing of this and future generations remain at the core of President Tinubu’s  thinking and top priority,” Morka emphasized.

The APC Spokesperson commended Tinubu for initiating far-reaching reforms, including the end of fuel subsidies and the harmonization of multiple exchange rates, which are seen as crucial steps to stabilize the economy.

“Despite the transient elevated cost of living impacts of the policies, experts and critics agree that the reforms were inevitable and crucial to stabilizing and positioning the economy for steady and sustainable growth,” he asserted.

The party noted that the pall of gloom over the nation has lifted, replaced by a “dawn of rebounding optimism and progress.”

It highlighted key achievements, including a significant increase in oil production, which now stands at over 1.8 million barrels per day, surpassing OPEC’s quota for the first time in recent history. The administration’s efforts have also led to trade surpluses for consecutive quarters since 2023 and a historic GDP growth of 3.38 percent in Q4 of 2024.

In terms of security, the APC pointed to the administration’s renewed fight against terrorism and banditry, resulting in the neutralization of over 13,500 terrorists and the closure of many internally-displaced persons (IDP) camps. “Nigeria is, unarguably, safer than it was pre-2023,” Morka declared.

The party also highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to workers’ welfare, citing the upward review of workers’ pay and the introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has benefited over 900,000 individuals.

The APC concluded by urging Nigerians to continue supporting Tinubu’s administration as it embarks on the second half of its term.

“We applaud our good people for their invaluable understanding and support so far, and crave their continued support for the second half of President Tinubu’s term of office to enable the administration to unpack the fullness of the Renewed Hope Agenda for the overall good of Nigerians,” Morka stated.
