Tinubu Appoints Dalori Acting Chairman as APC Confirms Ganduje’s Resignation
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Bukar Dalori, to take over as Acting National Chairman pending the meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
This was disclosed in a statement signed by APC Spokesperson, Felix Morka, on Friday night to officially announce the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, rumoured earlier in the day.
According to the statement, Ganduje’s resignation, which is effective immediately, was offered to enable him to attend to urgent and important personal matters.
Morka disclosed that Ganduje’s letter of resignation was addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
In his resignation letter, Dr. Ganduje expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve at the highest level within the party.
Consequently, the President directed Dalori to take over in acting capacity to fill the vacancy left by Ganduje’s resignation.
“The President has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the position of Acting National Chairman, pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party to be summoned immediately to fill the vacancy created by the resignation,” Morka stated.
Dr. Ganduje took the helm of the APC in August 2023, succeeding Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Reflecting on Ganduje’s journey as the party’s Chairman, Morka said the former APC Boss focused on fostering party unity, promoting democratic ideals, and enhancing the party’s competitiveness in elections.
“During his tenure, he focused on fostering party unity, promoting democratic ideals, and enhancing the party’s competitiveness in elections. His leadership was recognized during the NEC and National Caucus meetings in February 2025, which acknowledged his contributions to the party.
“Throughout his tenure, he dedicated himself to strengthening Party unity and cohesion, expounding its democratic ideals, and enhancing the Party’s electoral competitiveness. The confidence placed in him by the Party’s NEC and National Caucus meetings in February 2025 was a profound recognition and honour for his service.
“He leaves his position as National Chairman with great pride in our collective achievements, including successful defections from opposition parties and legal affirmations of our Party leadership’s legitimacy,” the Spokesperson noted.
The APC therefore reassured its members of its commitment to delivering transformative governance for all Nigerians, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The NWC expressed its appreciation for Dr. Ganduje’s invaluable contributions and distinguished service to the party.
“We pray for his good health, and success in his future endeavours in service of the nation and humanity,” Morka said.
