Customs Board Promotes 3,312 Officers, Names 4 New DCGs
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has approved major promotions and appointments across its ranks, including the elevation of four Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs), 12 Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs), and 3,312 senior officers.
This was disclosed in a statement signed on Tuesday by the Customs spokesman, Dr. Abdullahi Maiwada.
According to the statement, the approvals were granted during the Board’s 63rd regular meeting held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.
The new DCGs are AB Mohammed (North-West), GO Omale (North-Central), OC Orbih (South-South), and D Nnadi (South-East). The 12 new ACGs were also drawn across all six geopolitical zones in compliance with the Federal Character Policy.
In addition, the Service confirmed the promotion of 202 junior officers during its 6th management meeting on August 29, 2025.
Maiwada said the move underscored the Service’s commitment to “merit-based career progression, equitable representation, and recognition of outstanding performance.”
The Board also reviewed the Service’s half-year performance, with Customs recording N3.68 trillion in revenue between January and June 2025, exceeding projections by N390.2 billion or 11.85 percent. This represents 55.93 percent of its annual revenue target.
“The impressive outcome underscores the effectiveness of ongoing reforms, improved compliance by stakeholders, and enhanced deployment of technology in Customs operations,” Maiwada stated.
On trade facilitation, the Board reaffirmed Customs’ active role in the National Single Window project and reviewed updates on the Trade Modernisation Project. Achievements include wider deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), acquisition of six scanners including an FS6000 model, procurement of Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) equipment, reinforcement of cybersecurity architecture, and capacity-building for officers.
The Board also ruled on disciplinary cases, demoting two officers for misconduct while reinstating two others after review.
Congratulating the newly promoted officers, Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to “innovation, inclusivity, transparency, and excellence in service delivery,” while commending the Finance Minister for his continued support.
