Uzoka-Anite Urges Nigerians to Embrace Patriotism for Inclusive Growth

The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, has called on Nigerians to imbibe the ideals of patriotism, education, and public service as essential ingredients for driving inclusive economic growth and national prosperity.
Dr. Uzoka-Anite made the call yesterday in Abuja while receiving members of the Committee for the 6th Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Annual Award Memorial Lecture, led by its chairman and former governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
She said Nigeria’s first President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, embodied values that remain timeless and must continue to guide both leaders and citizens.
“Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s ideals of patriotism, education, and public service remain timeless. It is our duty, as leaders of today, to translate those ideals into economic empowerment, inclusive growth, and opportunities for all Nigerians,” she stated.
The minister noted that the Federal Ministry of Finance, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains committed to sound fiscal management, inclusive economic policies, and sustainable prosperity for all Nigerians.
“Dr. Azikiwe’s legacy continues to inspire us. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, we are driving policies that foster fiscal discipline, inclusive growth, and long-term national development. Recognitions like this strengthen our resolve to serve even more diligently,” she added.
Dr. Uzoka-Anite thanked President Tinubu, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, and Zenith Bank Chairman, Jim Ovia, for their support and encouragement, noting that recognitions such as the Azikiwe Memorial Award “fuel the desire to serve more selflessly.”
She also commended the organizing committee for sustaining efforts to honour national icons and promote intellectual dialogue around leadership, governance, and development.
In his remarks, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu lauded the minister’s contributions to national development, describing her nomination for the award as “unanimous and well-deserved.”
“Dr. Uzoka-Anite’s record of integrity and dedication to Nigeria’s financial stability stands out. The nation must remain united in purpose and vision to achieve sustainable progress,” he said.
Aliyu disclosed that the visit was part of preparations for the 6th Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Annual Memorial Lecture and Award Ceremony scheduled for November 2025, aimed at promoting civic engagement and value-driven leadership across sectors.
The courtesy visit, he added, reaffirmed shared commitment to strengthening national unity and advancing the ideals of patriotism and public service championed by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
