The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has recorded a strong performance in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), scoring 82.65 per cent.
The assessment, carried out between May 19 and June 20, 2025, placed NiMet in the “Substantial Compliance” category and ranked the agency 10th out of 344 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) evaluated nationwide.
The result was formally communicated to the agency in a letter dated December 29, 2025.
In a related outcome, NiMet also ranked 11th out of 356 MDAs on the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) Effectiveness Index (AEI), scoring 82.50 per cent. The rating earned the agency a “Very Effective” status for the performance of its ACTU.
The ICPC assessment was based on key governance and accountability pillars, including management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative processes, and the effectiveness of anti-corruption and transparency mechanisms.
The results, according to the commission, reflect the robustness of NiMet’s compliance framework and internal control systems.
In the letter conveying the outcome, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, commended NiMet for the structures and processes it has put in place to promote integrity and operational efficiency.
The agency’s management was also encouraged to sustain the standard achieved in order to ensure consistency in future ratings and continued improvement in service delivery.
NiMet said the performance highlights its commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its statutory mandate.
The agency reaffirmed its resolve to further strengthen its institutional processes in line with national integrity standards and best practices in public service.
