FRSC Boss Warns Against Misconduct in Corps

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has warned officers and men of the Corps against misconduct and any behaviour capable of undermining public trust.
The warning is part of a sweeping internal reform initiative announced in a statement signed on Saturday by the Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
According to the statement, the Corps Marshal has ordered the immediate deployment of the FRSC Management Team to field commands nationwide for a structured retreat and reorientation programme aimed at strengthening discipline and professionalism.
“The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has initiated a far-reaching internal reform process aimed at strengthening institutional discipline, deepening professionalism, and reinforcing a culture of respect and service excellence across all Commands of the Corps,” the statement read.
The nationwide engagement, it said, will focus on improving ethical compliance, strengthening supervisory accountability and standardising enforcement procedures across commands.
The Corps Marshal, Ogungbemide added, “has made it unequivocally clear that the Corps will not tolerate any behavior that undermines public trust or compromises its statutory mandate.”
As part of the reforms, commanding officers have been directed to enforce stricter performance benchmarks and ensure full compliance with the FRSC code of conduct.
The management team is also expected to meet with key stakeholders and members of the public to receive feedback on service delivery and operational conduct, in a move described as part of efforts to promote transparency and accountability.
The statement further warned that officers found guilty of misconduct or abuse of authority would face sanctions.
“To this end, personnel found culpable of misconduct, abuse of authority, or actions capable of bringing the Corps into disrepute will face firm and immediate disciplinary action in accordance with established regulations,” it said.
The Corps Marshal reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to delivering professional, humane and efficient road safety services, noting that the reform initiative is designed to consolidate discipline within the ranks and restore public confidence in the Corps.
