NIMC Seeks Mass Turnout as Ward Level NIN Exercise Continues

The National Identity Management Commission has urged Nigerians to come out in large numbers to participate in its ongoing ward-level National Identification Number enrolment exercise.

In a statement signed on Tuesday by its Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke PhD, the Commission said the Ward Level Enrolment Drive, which began on February 16, 2026, is progressing steadily across the federation.

NIMC described the NIN as a critical requirement for accessing essential government services, stressing that citizens and legal residents who are yet to enrol should take advantage of the decentralised registration initiative.

“The National Identification Number (NIN) remains a foundational requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria,” the statement said.

According to the Commission, the ward-based approach is aimed at bringing enrolment closer to communities to ensure broader and more inclusive identity coverage nationwide.

It encouraged members of the public to check its official website to locate designated enrolment centres within their wards.

To ensure a smooth process, the agency advised applicants to cooperate with enrolment officials and provide accurate information during registration.

It also urged Nigerians to rely only on verified communication platforms for updates, including its official website, [www.nimc.gov.ng](http://www.nimc.gov.ng), and its social media handles on X @nimc_ng, Instagram @nimc_ng, and Facebook National Identity Management Commission.

Reaffirming its commitment to expanding digital identity coverage, NIMC called on all citizens and residents to turn out en masse and complete their enrolment.

For further enquiries, the Commission directed the public to visit its website or call its customer care line on 0800-061-6462.

It also highlighted available online services, including pre-enrolment at penrol.nimc.gov.ng and data modification at selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.

In addition, Nigerians were encouraged to download the NINAUTH app on iOS and the Google Play Store to access digital identity services conveniently.

The Commission noted that the ongoing exercise is part of broader efforts to ensure that every Nigerian has a secure and verifiable digital identity.
