Iran Offers Support to Nigeria in Fight Against Terrorism

Iran’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Mahdavi Raja, made the disclosure during an interview on ARISE TV while reacting to Nigeria’s security situation and the activities of insurgent groups operating in parts of the country.

The envoy said Tehran strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms and remains open to cooperating with governments battling insurgency.

“Iran condemns terrorism of any kind and expresses readiness to cooperate with governments facing it,” Raja said.

He noted that Nigeria continues to face significant security challenges from extremist groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which have been responsible for years of violence in parts of the country.

According to him, Iran is willing to support Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism and restoring peace in affected communities.

“Nigeria faces security challenges from Boko Haram and ISWAP, and we are ready to support the government in combating terrorism,” he stated.

Raja explained that Iran’s position is shaped by its own experience with terrorist attacks, noting that the country has also been a victim of terrorism.

“As a victim of terrorism ourselves, we condemn terrorism in Nigeria,” he added.

The ambassador further emphasised the importance of international cooperation among countries confronting similar threats, stressing that joint efforts are crucial to addressing the global menace of terrorism and improving security worldwide.
