Yemen’s Houthi movement Declares Support for Iran Against U.S., Israel

The leader of Yemen’s Houthi movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has announced the group’s alignment with Iran in the escalating tensions involving the United States and Israel, sparking concerns over a potential expansion of conflict across the Middle East.
In a televised address monitored on Friday, Al-Houthi accused Washington of supporting Israel’s military agenda in the region, warning that any American action backing Israel against Iran would be treated as a direct threat not only to Yemen but to the broader Muslim world.
The Houthi leader framed the situation as a strategic and ideological confrontation, alleging that U.S. involvement was aimed at strengthening Israeli dominance in the region.
“Any attack or U.S. aggression supporting the Israeli enemy against Iran… is a move to empower Israel to control the entire region, and this cannot be accepted,” he said.
His remarks mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric from the Iran-aligned group, which has previously carried out attacks on vessels along the Red Sea corridor and launched strikes linked to Israeli interests.
Al-Houthi described the unfolding crisis as an existential struggle, warning that continued Western and Israeli influence could lead to loss of sovereignty and exploitation of regional resources.
He further called for unity among Muslim nations, presenting the conflict as a collective battle tied to religious and ideological resistance.
Security experts say the Houthis’ open declaration of support for Iran could heighten tensions in already volatile areas, particularly around the Red Sea, a key global shipping route.
Analysts warn that the development increases the risk of direct confrontation with U.S. forces in the region and may further complicate an already fragile security landscape.
The latest development comes amid growing international concern that the confrontation between Iran and Israel—now drawing in allied groups—could escalate into a broader regional war with significant humanitarian and economic consequences.
