Two Nurses Arrested Over Death of Sisters in Kebbi Hospital

Two nurses have been taken into custody following the death of two young sisters at a general hospital in Zuru, Kebbi State, in a case that has raised concerns over alleged medical negligence.
The victims, aged six and three, reportedly died on March 18 after receiving treatment at the facility under circumstances suspected to involve improper administration of medication.
Authorities said the nurses are currently being held in Birnin Kebbi as investigations continue to establish the exact cause of the incident and determine possible culpability.
The tragic development has drawn public attention, with calls for accountability in the handling of medical procedures, especially in public health institutions.
In response, the Kebbi State Government has set up a nine-member panel to probe the matter. The panel is chaired by Yakubu Ahmed, who is expected to lead a comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Officials say the committee will examine hospital practices, staff conduct, and compliance with medical standards, with a view to recommending appropriate actions.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to guide further steps, including possible sanctions and reforms aimed at preventing similar incidents in the state’s healthcare system.
