Mother of Eight Delivers Quintuplets in Kano

A woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, has given birth to a set of quintuplets at the Murtala Specialist Hospital, Kano State.
Her husband, Malam Salisu Nafiu, confirmed the development, stating that the babies—three boys and two girls—were delivered around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Nafiu, a tricycle rider, expressed gratitude over the safe delivery, noting that both the mother and the five newborns were in stable condition. He added that the latest birth marked his wife’s ninth delivery.
He also disclosed that medical personnel at the hospital were giving special care and attention to the mother and her babies to ensure their continued wellbeing.
In response, the Kano State Government announced that it would take full responsibility for the healthcare of the mother and her quintuplets.
The Public Relations Officer of the state Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, said the intervention forms part of efforts to improve maternal and child healthcare services and reduce mortality rates.
He added that the government remains committed to supporting vulnerable families and ensuring access to quality healthcare across the state.
Meanwhile, earlier in the month, National Periscope reported a similar case in Ogun State, where a housewife, Mufiat Olateju, delivered quadruplets at the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta.
Olateju, a mother of five prior to the delivery, had appealed to the government and well-meaning Nigerians for assistance, stating that her family was struggling to settle medical bills.
She noted that the birth came as a surprise, as earlier scans did not indicate she was carrying multiple babies.
