Aiyedatiwa Dissolves Political Aides, Plans Fresh Appointments

Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has terminated the appointments of all political aides in his administration with immediate effect.
The decision, announced on Tuesday, affects all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) serving across the state.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the move was described as part of efforts to improve efficiency and strengthen service delivery within the state’s administrative system.
According to the statement, the governor expressed appreciation to the affected aides for their contributions to governance.
“The Governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the State thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours,” Adeniyan said.
The mass disengagement, the statement added, is coming ahead of a planned restructuring of the political team. It disclosed that about 1,000 new aides would be appointed from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the state.
“In a step to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration, about 1,000 new aides will be appointed by the Governor in due course,” the statement said.
The development signals a major shake-up in the state government’s political structure, as the administration moves to broaden participation and reposition its support base.
The overhaul also follows a wave of voluntary resignations by some aides in recent months, reportedly linked to political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
With the latest action, the governor is expected to reconstitute his team in the coming weeks, with new appointments aimed at boosting grassroots engagement and administrative coordination across the state.
