Troops Foil Easter Sundy Attack, Rescue 31 Abducted Worshipers in Kaduna

Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled a terrorist attack on worshippers in Kaduna State, rescuing 31 abducted civilians following a swift response to a distress call from Ariko Village in Kachia Local Government Area.

The incident occurred during an Easter service at an ECWA Church in Ariko Village, where terrorists reportedly stormed the premises and whisked away several worshippers.

Military sources said troops immediately mobilised to the scene upon receiving the alert and, with the guidance of local residents, launched a pursuit of the fleeing attackers.

The troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them with superior firepower and forcing them to abandon 31 hostages. Among those rescued was one injured victim, who is currently receiving medical attention.

However, the operation recorded casualties, as troops recovered the remains of five victims killed by the attackers before help could arrive.

Security officials disclosed that the terrorists are believed to have suffered significant losses during the encounter, with visible blood trails along their escape routes indicating casualties among the fleeing group.

Troops have since intensified operations in the area, tracking the attackers to their hideouts in a bid to rescue any remaining captives and bring the perpetrators to justice.

To forestall further attacks, the Army has deployed additional personnel to reinforce security in the affected community and surrounding areas.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents of sustained offensive operations against criminal elements threatening national security.

Residents were also urged to support security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that community cooperation remains critical to restoring lasting peace.
