The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced new digital customer support platforms aimed at improving access to National Identification Number (NIN) services and reducing the stress associated with physical visits to enrolment centres.

The commission announced the rollout of a Live Chat feature on its official website alongside a dedicated WhatsApp support channel to provide faster and more convenient assistance to Nigerians and legal residents seeking identity-related services.

In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications Unit, Kayode Adegoke, NIMC said the initiative forms part of ongoing reforms and digital transformation efforts under the leadership of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote.

According to the statement, members of the public can now access customer support through the Live Chat feature on the commission’s official website and via the official WhatsApp support line.

The commission said the move reflects its commitment to improving customer experience, expanding access to identity management services and enhancing efficiency through technology-driven solutions.

NIMC explained that the newly introduced platforms are designed to provide real-time responses to enquiries, guidance on NIN-related issues and faster communication with users regardless of their location.

The commission added that the initiative would help reduce congestion at enrolment and service centres while improving operational efficiency and user satisfaction.

According to the statement, the digital support channels align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which focuses on improving public sector efficiency and expanding citizens’ access to government services through technology.

NIMC stated that the reforms being implemented under the current management are targeted at strengthening public trust, promoting innovation and ensuring easier access to identity management services across the country.

The commission encouraged Nigerians and legal residents to take advantage of the official communication platforms for verified information, support services and updates relating to NIN enrolment and other identity management matters.

It also advised citizens to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with unofficial platforms or individuals claiming to represent the commission.

NIMC warned that members of the public should rely only on verified communication channels in order to avoid misinformation and fraudulent activities linked to identity management services.
