Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest

Celebrity businessman and nightlife promoter, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The socialite, who currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, had sought the APC ticket to represent the federal constituency at the National Assembly.

His reported defeat in the party’s primary contest quickly stirred reactions across social media, with many users expressing surprise at the outcome while others mocked the celebrity businessman over his unsuccessful attempt to venture into elective politics.

Amid the reactions, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, defended Cubana Chief Priest, saying there was nothing wrong with losing an election.

“Why are people mocking Cubana Chief Priest? Not nice… it’s ok to try and try again,” he wrote on Facebook.

“He lost an election and so what? I am disappointed,” he added.

Meanwhile, the APC also released a list of aspirants marked “not cleared” for its forthcoming National Assembly primaries in several states ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party said the screening exercise was conducted in line with its established procedures and guidelines.

The list affected aspirants from states including Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers, as the ruling party intensifies preparations for its primaries ahead of the next general elections.

The development comes amid growing political realignments and heightened activities within major political parties as aspirants position themselves for various elective offices in 2027.
